Menu icon does not appear in statusbar

Once IE DownloadHelper is installed a menu icon should appear in the statusbar.

If you don’t see the icon it can be caused by one of the following reasons:

Statusbar disabled in Internet Explorer
To enable the statusbar in Internet Explorer select View -> Toolbars -> Status Bar

Internet Explorer: Enable Statusbar

IE DownloadHelper has been disabled within Internet Explorer addons
Goto Manage addons and enable DownloadHelper Class

Thirdparty extensions disabled within Internet Explorer
Goto Internet Options and in the advanced tab enable thirdparty extensions

In Private Browsing mode within Internet Explorer
If using In Private Browsing mode all extension are disabled by default. you can enable extensions in “In Private Browsing mode” in Internet Options in the security tab
